2007-08 Season Wrap-Up
The 2007-08 season proved to be a very exciting and interesting year for the Slugs. It was a season that can't be measured by the wins and loses alone. The season ended with a 9-18 mark, a record the Slugs did not predict at the beginning of the season.
They began the season with the best start in program history, going 4-1 in their first week of the season. But as the season progressed, the Slugs found it difficult to stay consistant. (more)

Calandri Earns First Team All-Independents Honors
Junior guard Kayleigh Calandri was named to the Division III First Team All-Independents. Calandri finished her junior year on top, breaking six individual records. First, she reached the 1,000 point mark on her career, the first Slug to do so, male or female. She also knocked down the most 3-point shots made in a single game with 7. She also finished the season with the most points scored in a single season with 377 along with the most 2-point and 3-point field goals made in a single season. She also finished her record breaking season with the highest 3-point field goal percentage at 42%. (more)

Another Weekend of Tough Losses and Record Breaking Perfomances for the Women's Basketball Team
The Slugs traveled to Dallas, TX this past weekend to face two rival Independent Division III Oppoents. The first night, they faced Chapman University for the third time this season. They hoped that the third time would be the charm, but plagued by turnovers again, the dropped another close game to the 22-3 Cougars. Leading the way for the Slugs was Junior forward Melissa Junge who finished with 11 points, shooting an impressive 100% going 5-5 from the field while also grabbing 7 rebounds. (more)

Two More Close Games for Women's Basketball Along with a Record Breaking Performance
The UCSC Women's Basketball team dropped two more close games this weekend. The Slugs traveled down to Chapman University for an Independent Tournament where they first faced La Sierra University. They found themselves in a tough battle that went into overtime where they eventually fell 54-60. (more)

Andrusaitis Leads the Ways for the Slugs Second Win in a Row
The Women's Basketball team is 2-0 to start off the New Year as they defeated Cal State Maritime 59-40. Sophomore forward Jessica Andrusaitis lead the way recording her first double-double of the season finishing with 16 points and 12 rebounds, shooting 40% from the field. Junior guard Kayleigh Calandri also scored in double figures finishing with 14 points. This brings Calandri's career total points to 918, making her second on the All-Time scoring list. Calandri is right on track to hit the 1,000 point mark which will make her the first player to accomplish that task in the history of the program. (more)

Calandri's Record Breaking Night as the Slugs Defeat Albany College of Pharmacy
The New Year has started off well for the Slugs as they defeated visiting Albany College of Pharmacy 69-44, bringing them to 6-10 for the season. It was also a record breaking evening, as junior guard, Kayleigh Calandri broke her career game scoring mark, finishing the evening with 33 points. Calandri finished shooting 72% from the field going 12-17, including 67% from the arc, shooting 7-11. (more)

Joyce named Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of California-Santa Cruz senior point guard Talia Joyce (Carson City, Nev.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week. Joyce helped her team to a 3-0 week on 10.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and six assists per game. In a 74-69 win over Dominican, she posted nine points, nine rebounds and six assists and added nine points, four rebounds and five assists in a 73-60 victory over Pomona-Pitzer. She capped the week with 13 points, seven boards and seven dimes in a 67-55 win over Claremont. On the season, UCSC is 4-1 overall and 3-1 in league play.

UCSC Women's Basketball Still Rollin' Strong
With no homes games, and two LA trips in two weeks, the UCSC Women's Basketball team has managed to not be affected. The Slugs are off to their best start since head coach Nikki Turner took over the program four years ago. For their third straight victory, they defeated Claremont Mudd Scripps 67-55, the first time in Turner's four years. (more)

Sarah Adamson's Career High Helps Bring The Slugs to 3-1 on the Season
Solid shooting helps bring the UCSC Women's Basketball team to 3-1 as they defeated Pomona-Pitzer for the second time this season. The Slugs were lead by senior center Sarah Adamson who finished the night with 19 points and 9 rebounds, setting an individual game high record. Adamson shot 64% from the field, finishing the night 9-14. (more)
