Slugs Get Complete Performance, Down Holy Names 3-0

katie vb
"For the first time this season, I think that we have seen what this team is truly capable of" said head coach Dan Chamberlain after his teams dominating performance against regional rival Holy Names. "I think that we really put it together today, and to be honest it could have been 5 or 6 goals today."

The Slugs came out of the blocks on fire and converted on their very first attacking move of the game as a ball was slipped in for CJ Villalobos (SO, London, England) on the right hand side. Villalobos crossed to Tim Degrasse (JR, Santa Cruz, CA) who was all alone on the back post for the games opening goal in the 2nd minute of the game.

Men's Soccer Team Returned From Their Trip to Los Angeles with a 1-1-1 Record

katie vb
The Slugs opened their road trip with a visit to Concordia University, a NAIA powerhouse who finished as National Runners Up last year. The Slugs went down to the Eagles 3-0 on a disappointing opening performance. John Fahey opened the scoring for the Eagles with 6 minutes left in the first half, after the Eagles had out shot the Slugs 10-0. Matt Mahowald (JR, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) had produced several fine saves to keep the Slugs in the game, but was finally beaten as Fahey slipped in behind the Slug's defense and finished from close range.
