Coach Runeare is entering his sixth season as head
coach of the UC Santa Cruz Women's Soccer Team. In 2006 under Runeare's
direction the Lady Slugs recorded their first undefeated season. The Lady
Slugs have earned top 10 NSCAA, NCAA national rankings, have produced
1 NSCAA All-American and 6 NSCAA All-West Region players. The team also
was awarded the NSCAA Academic Honor Award and Runeare was awarded the
NSCAA West Region Coach of the year in 2006.
Other current coaching duties include
Men's Head Coach Santa Cruz County Breakers National Premier Soccer
League team, Camp Director UC Santa Cruz Nike Soccer Camp and advisory
member of the NCAA Women's West Region Ranking Committee. He also holds
the Premier Diploma from the NSCAA
Prior to coaching at UCSC Runeare also
served as an assistant Coach with the UCSC and Cabrillo College Men's
Soccer Teams. He has also been involved with coaching youth development
within the Catalyst Soccer Club and the Santa Cruz County Breakers Premier
Futbol Club.
Runeare is a graduate of The University
of Massachusetts with a degree in Environmental Studies. He was captain
and 4-year member of the UMass team.
Playing experience Includes service
with reserve teams of the Houston Dynamos and Kalamazoo Kangaroos.

GINA RAMIREZ
Assistant Coach - Women's Soccer
Gina Ramirez, Graduate of UC Santa
Cruz, has been a volunteer assistant for the past three years and is
entering her fourth season with the Slugs. After playing four years
with the team from 2001-2004, she stayed with the program as a volunteer
assistant. While in Santa Cruz she
has worked extensively with the Catalyst Soccer Club since 2002 and
various youth teams within Santa
Cruz County.
She also worked with the girl's varsity and junior varsity soccer
teams at Soquel High School in
2006. In 2007-08 Gina worked at Downtown College Preparatory High School, San
Jose, as the assistant athletic director and
the head coach of the girls varsity soccer team. Currently, Gina holds
her NSCAA National Coaching license.
