The Slugs lose Home opener to the Kingsmen
SANTA CRUZ, CA -- In their home opener, at Kaiser Permanente Arena, the UCSC Men's Basketball Team unfortunately lose to the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen 66-55 in the Hotel Paradox Opening weekend. Lead by former all conference player James Townsend, and point guard Matthew Ponce, the team was able to cut the deficit by 1 in the 2nd half, until the Kingsmen went on a 13-2 run lead by Coltrane Powdrill and Arik Smith.
The Slugs had James Townsend lead all scorers with 14 points and assists with 4. Mathew Ponce had 11 points, and Ilan Zur had 8 points. The Slugs head back into Kaiser Permanente Arena tomorrow, to play Pacific Union in another triple header with the Women's team, and the D-League Santa Cruz Warriors.
