FRESNO - UC Santa Cruz dropped their second Division I exhibition of the new season 96-65 at Fresno State.
The Bulldogs shot 52.9% (36-68) from the field, including 12-24 from long distance. Seven of those treys came in the first half where Fresno State shot 59.4% field goals and raced to a 52-25 lead at the half.
For the game, UCSC shot a decent 52.9 % (23-43) but were undone by 23 turnovers and being doubled up in points in the paint (44-22) by the bigger Bulldogs.
Will Crain led all scorers with 21 points, including an amazing 3-3 from three-point land in his 8-10 shooting night. Crain also led the team with seven rebounds and 2 blocks. Kyle Creighton had 10 points and Corey Cilia had 9 points off the bench.
Deshon Taylor led six Bulldogs in double-figures with 16 points.
The Banana Slugs open the regular season on Wednesday night at Cal Lutheran.
