Men's Basketball sweeps awards from AD3I

OVERLAND PARK, KS - UC Santa Cruz swept the Association of Division Three Independents major awards for Men's basketball for 2018-19 as announced by the Association Friday morning.

Sam Gabbard, who led the Banana Slugs in scoring and rebounding, was named the Player of the Year. His 21.3 points and 10.6 rebounds were tops in AD3I. The senior was a three-time Player of the Month and also led the team in minutes, field goal percentage, three-point field goal percentage and assists.

Simon Mueller-Landsvik, a freshman guard from Dusseldorf Germany, was named the Rookie of the Year after averaging 7.7 points, 2.3 assists and 0.9 steals per game on the year.

Coach Ron Dubois was named Coach of the Year after becoming the school's winningest coach and leading the team to 14 wins, the second most wins in a season in school history.

Gabbard made the AD3I First team for the second straight year, along with center Will Crain. Mueller-Landsvik was named to the second team as were Tyler Klingenbeck and Patrick Ramos.
