Petro Earns NSCAA Scholar All-Region Honor

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- Slug Senior, Bobby Petro (Sr. Arroyo Grande, CA) has been named to the NSCAA Scholar All-Region 2nd Team. Petro becomes the third Slug in two years to be named to the Scholar All-Region Team, and joins a proud tradition of Slug academic excellence.

As the Slugs' only senior in 2008, it is with great pride that the UC Santa Cruz Men's Soccer program says goodbye to Bobby Petro. Since arriving at UCSC from Sonoma State in 2006 Bobby has been much more than a good soccer player at UCSC, he has been a great friend, a great leader and a great young man.

You could not ask for a better role model for young college players than Bobby Petro. He exemplified the work ethic that it takes to be successful at UC Santa Cruz. Not only is he always the first to arrive at training and the last to leave, he has done so while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA!

This year Bobby has exemplified the meaning of playing every game as if it was your last, always making the most of his time on the field. In his senior year Bobby has added two goals to his career tally, including one game-winning goal against La Sierra University.

We expect the greatest things from Bobby are yet to come!
