As a second year assistant coach for the Men’s Tennis Team, Brian Pybas is entering his 6th year with the Slug tennis program. During his playing career here at UCSC Brian was a six time all-American, playing #1 singles and doubles for his final two years. After college, he went on to grab 10 ATP points in doubles with his doubles partner from UCSC. A big influence on Brian‘s decision to peruse coaching was his coach during his stay at UCSC, Bob Hansen, the so called “Godfather“ of slug tennis. “Not only did Coach Hansen aim to create champions on the tennis court, but he also strived to create championship people,” Brian says. This is the Slug tradition that he will hope to carry on as he continues with his coaching. In making the transition to coaching at the college level Brian is dedicated to growing his skills under Bryce Parmelly reach the same success he did as a player here at UCSC.
