  • Golden Flyers Defeat Banana Slugs in Five in NCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship Quarterfinal

    For the third time this season, the Banana Slugs took on Nazareth College. This matchup, however, had the stakes raised by exponential bounds as the winner would advance to the next round of the NCAA Division III Men’s Volleyball Championship.

    Jacob Landel was named a First Team All-American and Jake Hurwitz and Jorge Reyes named to the Second Team All-American. The Banana Slugs Branden Torado was an Honorable Mention.
  • UCSC Men's Volleyball Team heads to Hoboken, New Jersey for NCAA Men's Division III Championships

    The UC Santa Cruz Athletics Department is pleased to announce that the Men's Volleyball Team has qualified for the NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball National Championship Tournament. The event will be held April 24 - 26 at the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey.

    UC Santa Cruz played their first game of the Soaring Eagle Invitational as they took on #6 Nazareth College. The Banana Slugs and the Golden Flyers played earlier this season at the Golden Flyer Invitational as the Golden Flyers swept the Banana Slugs.

    UC Santa Cruz played their final match of their five match trip to the state of New York as they took on D’Youville College. The Banana Slugs hit one of their best percentages of the season and swept the Spartans 3-0.

    UC Santa Cruz played their first match of the day at the Soaring Eagle Invitational as they took on the host Elmira College. As with their match on February 5th, the Banana Slugs and the Soaring Eagles played a tight match.

    UC Santa Cruz started their five game road trip to the state of New York as they took on Medaille College. These two teams met once before this season in Rochester on February 6th and the result was the same as the Banana Slugs swept the Mavericks 3-0.

    UC Santa Cruz played their second match of the day at the Soaring Eagle Invitational as they took on SUNY Polytechnic Institute. The Banana Slugs would sweep the Wildcats 3-0.

    The Banana Slugs played their first match in two weeks as they took on Holy Names University in Oakland. Just like the previous meeting between these two teams on January 16th in Santa Cruz, the Banana Slugs won the match 3-1 over the Hawks.

    UC Santa Cruz started their second day at the Asics/Wyndham Hotel Spring Classic as they took on UC Merced for the third time this season. As with the two previous matches with the Golden Bobcats this season, the Banana Slugs swept the Golden Bobcats 3-0.

    UC Santa Cruz finished their time at the Asics/Wyndham Hotel Spring Classic as they took on the host Concordia University of Irvine. Unlike the two previous matches, which were won by the Banana Slugs, which were played in February in Santa Cruz, the Eagles swept the Banana Slugs 3-0.

    UC Santa Cruz played in their final home match of the 2015 season as they took on Lakeland College for the second consecutive evening. The Banana Slugs honored their four seniors from this year’s squad – Blake Chadwick, Jake Hurwitz, Jake Landel and Branden Torado – as the Banana Slugs swept the Muskies 3-0.
