Banana Slugs Participate in UC San Diego Last Chance Meet

UC Santa Cruz took part in the UC San Diego Last Chance Meet. The meet was hosted by UC San Diego at the Splash Aquatic Center in La Mirada.

The Banana Slugs' men's team had finishers place from first place to seventh place in the 200 yard freestyle. Mason Emery finished in first place with a time of 1:41.12. Ivan Garin finished in second place with a time of 1:42.42. Cameron Braun finished in third with a 1:43.34 time. Kendall Pawlowski finished a time of 1:44.51 which was good enough for fourth. Casey Colella finished fifth with a time of 1:44.97. Armon Keshmiri finished sixth with a time of 1:45.94. Kenny Doo finished in seventh with a time of 1:48.71. In the 100 yard breaststroke, JJ Amis won the race with a time of 58.24 and Tyler Andree finished second with a time of 1:04.15. In the 50 yard freestyle, Keshmiri finished second with a time of 22.01 and Doo finished third with a time of 22.02. In the 50 yard freestyle time trial, Garin finished with a time of 21.16, Braun finished second with a time 21.39 and Mason Emery finished third with a time of 22.05. In the 200 yard breaststroke time trial, Colella won the race with a 2:05.35 time. 

In the lone women's event of the day, the 100 yard freestyle, Ryan Springer-Carter won the race with a time of 54.76 seconds. Leah Smyth came in second with a time of 1:04.08. 

There was no points competition for the meet.

The Banana Slugs will now wait to see which swimmers will make the 2015 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships. The list of qualifying swimmers will be released on March 2nd.
