Banana Slugs Fall to Cougars

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- UC Santa Cruz took on NCAA Division II Azusa Pacific University in their final dual meet of the calendar year. The Cougars defeated the Banana Slugs 174-119. 

The men's team had participants finish in the top five in all eleven events. As a team, the Banana Slugs won events – the 200 yard medley relay and 400 yard freestyle relay. Individually, Mason Emery won two events – the 100 yard breaststroke and the 50 yard freestyle. Tyler Andree (100 yard backstroke), Brian Berger (1000 yard freestyle), Kenny Doo (100 yard freestyle), Ivan Garin (100 yard butterfly), Spencer Reed (500 yard backstroke), Kyle Rovira (200 yard backstroke) and Ryan Wullschleger (200 yard butterfly) each won one individual event. 

The women's team had top five finishers in all thirteen events in the event. Individually, Alison English (200 yard and 500 yard freestyle) and Megan Roby (100 yard and 200 yard butterfly) finished first in two events. Krystal Feri (200 yard breaststroke) and Jenna Riley (100 yard breaststroke) won one individual event apiece.

Today's dual meet was the final meet of the 2014 calendar year for the Banana Slugs. Their next event is January 2nd and 3rd as they take part in the Chris Knorr Invitational in Thousand Oaks.
