LONG BEACH, CALI – For the second straight week, UCSC swimmers swept the Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Conference (PCSC) Swimmers of the Week. The PCSC announced today the selection of Ivan Garin and MacKenzie Arnold after leading both the men's and women's teams to 1st place team finishes at the Chris Knorr Invitational hosted by Cal Lutheran.
Garin, a junior majoring in Business Management Economics, was a standout throughout the weekend. He was a double winner in both the 50 Free in 21.81 and 100 Fly in 52.37. Garin also was the relay lead swimming the 100 Free leg in 48.68 as well as swimming the Medley Relay Fly leg in 52.68.
Arnold, a junior transfer from Foothill College, was equally impressive. She was the winner of the 200 Breast in 2:39.49, 3rd in the 100 Breast in 1:12.71, and swam the Breast leg on the Medley Relay in 1:12.19.
"Both swimmers had a great weekend for us" said head coach Kim Musch. We are very pleased with how they raced and look forward to continued success as we ramp up for the PCSC and NCAA Championships."
Garin, Arnold, and the rest of the Slugs will be back in the pool Saturday January 16 in a dual meet with Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.
