NEW ORLEANS - Thrower Jordynn Dorado and Pole Vaulter Mason Pierce were named All-Academic Individuals for 2017-18 by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The duo were also named All West Region this year in their events.

"This is a huge accomplishment for both Jordynn and Mason," said head coach David Klech. "Both embody being a student-athlete by excelling athletically on a National Level while also working incredibly hard in the classroom."

To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 and must have either competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event on the official NCAA Descending Order List.

Dorado, a sophomore from Nipomo, set the school records this season in the Shot Put and Hammer Throw, just missing qualifying for the national championship. Pierce similarly set the school record holder in the pole vault in his collegiate first season.
