Davisson and Andrews Have Record Breaking Nights in the Slugs Two Game Win Streak
SANTA CRUZ, CA-- The Slugs are starting their second half of season in record breaking fashion. After a tough loss to Menlo College, the Slugs bounced back as they defeated Holy Names University 64-59. The Hawks entered the game with a 12-6 (6-0 Cal Pac) record and a lot of athleticism. With their tenacious defense and solid shooting, the Slugs were able to hold of Hawks for their first win of the New Year. The defense was lead by Sophomore Forward Lydia Andrews who finished the night with two blocks bringing her season total to 28, bringing her to the top of the list in the record book for most blocks in a single season. The previous record was held by former Forward Julie Randall ('05) with 26.
Next the Slugs would travel to Angwin, CA to face Pacific Union College. Despite a rough shooting performance, finishing the game shooting 29% from the field, the Slugs managed to hold of Pacific Union 59-45. Leading the way for yet another record breaking night was Junior Forward Molly Davisson who finished with a double-double, 17 points and 26 rebounds. Davisson's 26 rebounds brought her to the top of the record book for most rebounds in a single game. The previous record was held by former Center Sarah Adamson ('08). Senior Guard Kayleigh Calandri lead the team in scoring with 19.
Next the Slugs will return home where they will face Cal State Maritime on Saturday, January 24th at 6pm.
