Cameron, Bruins surge to Pacific Invitational victory

 

BANKS, OR -- Mandy Cameron made it a clean sweep of the leaderboard individually Sunday, posting the second round's low score to lead George Fox to victory at the Pacific Invitational, held at the Quail Valley Golf Course.


Cameron posted a seven-over-par 79 in the second round to secure medalist honors with a two-day score of 156. She finished four strokes better than Northwest Christian, who finished second with a score of 160. The Bruins swept the next three spots to secure the team title with a score of 645. Sarah Askin and Brianna Nap tied for third with scores of 162 while Kelsey Morrison tied with UC Santa Cruz's Halley Sutton for fifth with scores of 166. George Fox was a full 60 strokes better than second place Pacific, which tallied a team score of 705. Tami Park (Jr., Hilo, Hawaii) finished seventh with a two-day score of 167, while teammate Valerie Kitamori (Jr., Hilo, Hawaii) was seventh, one stroke behind at 168. Jasmine Ching (Sr., Hilo, Hawaii) tied for 15th with her score of 183. Jayme Hall (Fr., San Luis Obispo, Calif.) tied for 22nd at 189 and Cathryn Heath (Jr., Waldport, Ore.) finished 32nd at 209. UC Santa Cruz finished third at 716, followed by Northwest Christian (726), Linfield (735), Corban (872) and Willamette (880). Lewis & Clark fielded only three golfers on the opening day and did not record a team score. Pacific will return to competition in two weeks, competing in the Lewis-Clark St. Invitational on Mar. 14 and 15 in Lewiston, Idaho.
