Slugs finish 10th at the Jack Leman Tournament
AMHERST, MA -- The annual Jack Leaman Women's Invite was held this weekend in Amherst, MA, hosted by Amherst College. After flying through multiple time zones, the mighty slugs were ready to grind it out at Hickory Ridge golf course for the first day of the Tournament. Day one was average at best, with many of the beast coast players posting scores in the low 80's, the mighty slugs had a lot of work to do. The Orchards, crafted in 1922 by the legendary Donald Ross, was the cite for Sunday's round--a round where the slugs proved their ability to adapt to various course conditions, and where their overall team score improved by 18 strokes, padded by strong postings by freshmen Yukari Shichishima and Kristen Omi. With bittersweet tears, Captain Halley Sutton finished off the year with an impressive round of 82--a score that is more that just a number, but one that embodies four years of golf team memories that she will undoubtably carry with her for years to come, as well as her love of the sport. Senior Siena Garica also finished up the year respectfully, with scores that reflect her improvement over the years, as well as her commitment and dedication to golf. Both Halley and Siena represent the things that define slug golf--laughter, imagination, and a strong dedication to the game--taking with them two personalities that will be hard to replace. The slugs are looking forward to building upon the lessons learned this year, to work towards their best season yet.
