UC Santa Cruz traveled down the coast to Arroyo Grande and the Cypress Ridge Golf Course to take part in the Lady Mustang Invitational. The Banana Slugs' competition featured ten NCAA Division I schools from around the western United States.
In the first round, Ravipa Losakul led the Banana Slugs with an 85(+13) which tied her along with Shenna DeLeon of CSU Northridge and Amanda Kahn of the University of Montana. Olivia Bean shot an 86 (+14) which tied her along with Carly Dehlin and Ana Margarita Raga of Utah Valley University and Hailey Hoagland of the University of Montana. Angela McElroy shot an opening round 91(+19). Victoria Ly shot a 104(+32). Victoria Saucedo rounded out the Banana Slugs' contingent with a 121(+49). Clare Dittemore of Montana State University and Hannah Facchini of UC Riverside led the individual competition. Santa Clara University led the team competition while UC Santa Cruz was in eleventh place.
In the second round, Losakul had an 81(+9) for a total tournament score of 166(+22) which tied her for 54th place along with Kristin Le of Santa Clara University. McElroy shot an 89(+17) for a total score of 180(+36) which put her in 66th place. Bean shot a 95(+23) for a total score of 181(+37) which placed her in 67th. Ly shot a 96(+24) for a total of 200(+56) which placed her in 69th. Saucedo shot a 96(+24) for a total score of 217(+73) which placed her in 70th.
The Banana Slugs will not hit the links again for the remainder of the calendar year. Their next tournament will be March 6th-8th, 2016 at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout at Hiddenbrooke Golf Club in Vallejo.
