CHINO HILLS, Cali - UC Santa Cruz traveled to Southern California for their third event of the season in the CMS Invitational. The Banana Slugs' competition featured four NCAA Division III schools.
In the first round, Olivia Bean led the Banana Slugs' contingent with an 83 (+11) which tied her along with Madison Crimi-Demichele of Whittier College. Maia Dupris shot a 92 (+20) which tied her along with Haulie Bantle of Chapman University. Sean Hong shot a first round score of 99 (+27). Julia Martin shot a 109 (+37). Victoria Morales shot a 112 (+40). Marrissa Perez rounded out the Banana Slugs grouping with a 113 (+41).
In the second round, Bean shot a 90 (+18) for a total round of 173 (+29) placed her in 20th. Dupris shot 97 (+25) for a total score of 189 (+45) which tied her for 24th place along with Nicole Vigueria of Whittier. Hong shot 98 (+26) for a total score of 197 (+53) which gave her a 26th place finish. Martin shot a 100 (+28) for a total of 209 (+65) which placed her in 28th place. Perez finished in 30th place after shooting a 107 (+35) for a total of 220 (+76). Morales shot a 111 (+39) for a total of 223 (+79) which placed her in 31st.
Emma Kang of Claremont Mudd Scripps won the individual competition. Claremont Mudd Scripps won the team competition while UC Santa Cruz finished fifth in the team competition.
The Banana Slugs will not have another tournament until 2017. The Banana Slugs' next tournament is February 25th-28th at the Linda Lowery Invitational at Balcones Golf and Country Club in Austin.
