VENTURA - Mara Anunciacion led UC Santa Cruz with a 39th place finish at the California State Intercollegiate Invitational held at the Olivas Links Golf Course.

Anunciacion, a freshman, took two strokes off her first round score to finish with a 16-over 160 (81-79).

"Mara was a rock star," said head coach Paulette Pera. "She made almost every putt inside 10 feet, which made for two great scores."

Fellow freshmen Claire Oetinger and Dana Bryant finished 45th and 57th respectively with scores of 164 and 176.
Sarah Shi was 61st with a score of 187 and Kylie Edwards was just behind her at 62nd with a 188.

UCSC finished 11th out of 12 teams with a combined 108 over 684. Division II Point Loma Nazarene won the team title by 24 strokes over second placed George Fox, led by medalist Allie Kim's 8-under-136.

"Mara and Claire are capable of going even lower and I am looking for that in our next Tournament at Claremont McKenna," Pera said.
