Banana Slugs Finish Fifth at CMS Invitational

CHINO HILLS (9-30) – The Banana Slugs traveled to Southern California to take part in the CMS Invitational hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills.

In the first round, Claire Oetinger shot an 80 (+8) which tied her with Madeline Brown and Eunice Song of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Kendall Nicholson of University of Redlands. Sarah Shi shot an 87 (+15), Dana Bryant and Mara Anunciacion both shot a first round score of 88 (+16). Victoria Morales rounded out the Banana Slugs on the day with a score of 101 (+29).

In the second round, Oetinger shot an 81 (+11) for a total tournament score of 161 (+19) to finish tied for 17th. Bryant shot a second round 88 (+16) for a two-round total of 176 (+32) which placed her in 29th. Shi shot a 91 (+19) for a total score of 178 (+44) which placed her in 30th. Anunciacion shot a 92 (+20) for a total score of 180 (+36) which placed her in 31st.

Kahal Vitha of Whittier College won the individual competition and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the team competition.

The Banana Slugs will return to the links October 5th-6th as they take part in the Culturame Classic hosted by George Fox University at Willamette Valley Country Club in Portland.
