Women's Soccer Earns High Honors in the Division III Independents Teams

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--- The 2013 All-Independent Women's Soccer teams were announced today by the Association of Division III Independents. 

Offensive Player of the Year

Shannon Fahy, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn), SO, Forward, Breezy Point, N.Y. – Fahy's 14 goals and 34 points set school records.   

 

Defensive Player of the Year

Antonia Darragh, University of California, Santa Cruz, SR, Defender, Davis, Cal. – This center back, who led the Banana Slugs defense all year with great tackles and amazing headers, started and played every minute of every game.

 

Rookie of the Year

Megan Carey, University of California, Santa Cruz, FR, Midfielder, Encinitas, Cal. – Carey scored seven goals and started all 12 games for the Slugs.

 

Coach of the Year

Emily Scheese, University of California, Santa Cruz.

 

The women's soccer coaches from the Association of Division III Independents member schools selected the All-Independent Women's Soccer teams.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of seven Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. The Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports. In addition, it will announce All-Independent teams at the conclusion of eight other sports this year.
