LAGRANGE, GA (9-23) – In a vote of the eight conference sports information directors, UC Santa Cruz junior goalkeeper Selina Davila Olivera was named the Great South Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week.
Davila Olivera's week was superb. She played 155 minutes of soccer this week without allowing a goal. On Tuesday, she had four saves in the Banana Slugs' 0-0 draw with NAIA opponent Menlo College in Santa Cruz on Tuesday. She also had seven saves in the first half of the Banana Slugs' match against NCAA Division II opponent Fresno Pacific University in Fresno on Saturday.
Davila Olivera ranks first in the Great South Athletic Conference in goals against average (1.102) and save percentage (83.3%).
The Banana Slugs will have two matches this week in Santa Cruz. They will take on Mills College on Friday at 3 pm and University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Saturday at noon.
