UC Santa Cruz announced their 2018 women's soccer schedule, which includes six home games and nine games total against Division III opposition.
The Banana Slugs, who return eight starters from last year's NCAA Tournament team, continue their trend of tough competition with five additional matchups against Division II teams among the eighteen-game schedule.
UCSC opens the year with an exhibition in the City August 27 against Division II Academy of Art. The regular season begins with two first-time opponents on Labor Day weekend at the Mills Tournament. UCSC will face Evergreen State of Washington on Friday August 31st and Johnson & Wales (Colorado) Sunday September 1st.
UCSC then embarks on a three-day roadtrip to Oregon to face Linfield, George Fox and Lewis & Clark.
After the roadtrip, UCSC has their first home game on September 12 against Dominican University. The short homestand ends the following Saturday against Pomona-Pitzer, NCAA participant in two of the last three years.
After road games against local rivals Mills and Menlo, the Slugs return home on Thursday September 27 for the first of three straight games against Division II competition against Cal State Monterey Bay.
The Slugs will then host first-time opponent Hawai'i Pacific on October 2nd before beginning a five-game road trip at Stanislaus State. Then comes a weekend in Southern California against Chapman and 2017 NCAA Sweet Sixteen team Cal Lutheran. UCSC travels to Humboldt State October 20th, their first meeting against the Lumberjacks since 1995. The final road game of the season comes October 23rd against UC Merced in Merced.
UCSC ends the regular season with a pair of home games: Mills on October 27th and the first-ever meeting against Sierra Nevada College on November 1st.
