Women's tennis ranked 20th in region by ITA

TEMPE, AZ. - UC Santa Cruz's women's tennis team wraps up the regular season with some good news.

The Banana Slugs are ranked 20th in the Western Region according to the Oracle/ITA Rankings that came out April 12. It's the first regional ranking this season for UCSC since 2015.

While the overall record isn't overwhelming, the Banana Slugs have played one of the toughest schedules in the country with a very young team, closing the regular season with five straight matches to Division II schools.

"I am so proud of this team for achieving a great milestone of being regional ranked," said freshman Ashley Isaac, the 20th-ramked singles player in the region. "The heart, commitment and, most importantly, trust that we have built is unlike any other team we have been a part of.
There's something special in the water Coach Jensen is giving us. Can't wait to see how our team does at Ojai!"

The Banana Slugs have a week and a half  off before competing in the Ojai Tournament.
