CLAREMONT, Calif. - UCSC Women’s Tennis, fresh off of capturing their first ever GSAC Regional Title, went up against #30 ranked Lewis & Clark College, from Portland, Oregon, in the first round of the NCAA DIII Women's Tennis Championship
The Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) announced the postseason award winners in the sport of women's tennis on Friday night at a banquet in Macon, Ga. Amy Leslie led the Slugs being selected as GSAC Freshman of the Year. Playing mostly DII competition throughout the year, Leslie finished the year 3-1 against DIII opponents.
The Banana Slugs played their first match in eight days as they took on NCAA Division II opponent Holy Names University in Oakland. The Hawks won five out of six singles matches to win the overall match 8-1.
The Banana Slugs played took a break from their travels around California as they came home to take on NCAA Division II opponent Stanislaus State University. The Warriors won ever single match to win the overall match 9-0.
The Banana Slugs played their third and final match in their Southern California road trip as they took on Occidental College in Los Angeles. The Tigers won every singles doubles match as the Tigers won the match 6-3.
The Banana Slugs finished their back-to-back as they traveled down the coast to take on NCAA Division I member Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in San Luis Obispo. The Mustangs won every single match in straight sets to sweep the Banana Slugs 7-0.
The Banana Slugs played their first match of the 2016 season and the first match of Amy Jensen's tenure as head coach of the Banana Slugs as they took on University of La Verne in Santa Cruz. Unfortunately, the Leopards swept the Banana Slugs 9-0
