The Women's Volleyball dominated its two matches this weekend, defeating Mills College at home on Friday 3-0 (30-14, 30-20, 30-19) and then outlasting CSU Monterey Bay at the Otter Sports Center on Saturday, 3-0 (30-27, 30-22, 30-27).

SANTA CRUZ-- The Women's Volleyball team defeated Holy Names College in 3 straight games Friday night at the West Field. Freshman Outside Hitter Amy Strang had 13 kills with 2 blocks and Senior Outside Hitter Leigh O'Neill would add 12 kills to lead the Slugs, 30-23, 30-27, 30-27.

HAYWARD, CA-- The Women's Volleyball team lost at CSU Hayward in three straight matches (30-10, 30-24, 30-22) Tuesday night. The Pioneers' Toni-Ann Merendino came off the bench to record six kills and 10 digs while starter Ivone Aleman had 9 kills in the win.

Women's Volleyball dominates CSU Maritime
SANTA CRUZ-- The Women's Volleyball team won its sixth consecutive Match on Friday at the West Field House, overwhelming CSU Maritime, 3-0 (30-12, 30-15, 30-19). Sophomore Jennifer Lewis had a career-high 14 kills with an outstanding kill percentage of .706. Other standout performers were Senior Leigh O'Neill, who had 4 kills and 5 service aces, and Freshman Brita Class, who had 5 kills in 5 opportunities.

Women's Volleyball defeats Bethany at home; Simpson on the road
SANTA CRUZ-- The Women's Volleyball Team defeated county rival Bethany College on Friday night at the West Field, winning 3-1 (32-30, 30-27, 26-30, 30-28). Freshman Brita Class had 11 kills and 3 service aces in the victory. Junior setter Lillan Hallock had 37 assists on the night.

Women's Volleyball Match Cancelled
The Women's Volleyball match against Oregon Tech, originally scheduled for Wednesday, September 12, has been cancelled as a result of Tuesday''s national tragedy. No rescheduling is planned. The team will play its first home match Friday night at 7:30 pm at the West Field House against Notre Dame de Namur University.

Women's Volleyball wins Otter Classic Invitational
MONTEREY BAY, CA-- The Women's Volleyball tam defeated host CSU Monterey Bay to win the Otter Classic Invitational Saturday night. The Lady Slugs, who had lost to their four match play opponents, would storm back in bracket play, defeating Embory-Riddle, Holy Names and CSUMB to take the championship.

Women's Volleyball at the Whitman Invitational
WALLA WALLA, WA-- The Women's Volleyball team opened their season at 1-2 after finishing in 3rd place at the Whitman Classic Invitational. The Slugs opened the tournament narrowly losing to Western Baptist College on Friday, 30-29, 24-30, 30-25, 30-22. Pacific Lutheran handed the Slugs their second loss on Saturday morning, 30-22, 30-12, 30-17.
