Women's Volleyball dominates CSU Maritime

SANTA CRUZ-- The Women's Volleyball team won its sixth consecutive Match on Friday at the West Field House, overwhelming CSU Maritime, 3-0 (30-12, 30-15, 30-19).

Sophomore Jennifer Lewis had a career-high 14 kills with an outstanding kill percentage of .706. Other standout performers were Senior Leigh O'Neill, who had 4 kills and 5 service aces, and Freshman Brita Class, who had 5 kills in 5 opportunities.

Midway through game 2, the Slugs began pulling their starters, allowing many of their reserves to get significant playing time. Backup setter Jamie Muller had 17 assists on the night.

Assistant Coach Selene Teitelbaum received her first coaching start for the absent Jay Hosack, and now has a career 1-0 record. The team's record now stands at 8-7 and is 6-1 in Cal Pac play.

The team will face stronger competition Saturday night at Dominican College (8-6 overall record). Match start time is at 7:30 pm.
