Slugs Dominate in So. Cal
Over the weekend the Slugs traveled down south to Pomona, CA to play 4 matches against DIII opponents, pulling out 3 straight victories in 3 games. On Friday, UCSC was handed its only defeat of the weekend by Pomona-Pitzer. The Sagehens won in 3; 30-19, 30-20, 33-31. For the Slugs, Briana Williford and Jihan Spearman had 10 kills; Jihan added 1 block and 6 digs.

Williford named Association of Division III Independents Volleyball Player of the Week

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- The UCSC Women's Volleyball team got yet another victory after pulling out a close 5-game win over visiting Menlo College. The entire match was a back and forth battle; both teams made huge comebacks to keep the games close.

Women's Volleyball Serves Up 2 Wins in a Row
The Slug women's volleyball team got their first two wins this past week. At home last Friday, UCSC swept visiting Whittier College in 3 games (30-12, 30-23, 31-29). Marisol Visalli led the way for the Slugs with 12 kills, hitting .375%. Senior Briana Williford added 10 of her own along with 2 blocks, while Jihan Spearman had 8. Jenna Koch has 37 assists on the night.

Uphill Battle at Pikes Peak, Stanislaus for Slugs
TURLOCK, CA -- The UCSC Women's Volleyball team traveled to CSU Stanislaus last night where they took the match to 5 games before losing 15-8 in the final game. Down 1-0 the Slugs fought back to win games 2 and 3 (30-23, 30-26), but Stanislaus pulled out a 33-31 victory in the 4th game to force a game 5. Marisol Visalli led the Slugs with 15 kills, Briana Wiliford added 12, and Jenna Tomei had 11. Jenna Koch led both teams with 49 assists on the night, while Andrea Wilson led the Slugs with 21 digs, and Jihan Spearman led both teams with 4 blocks.
