Banana Slugs Sweep Eagles

LOS ANGELES (10-3) – UC Santa Cruz played their first match of the day as they took on NCCAA opponent West Coast Baptist College. The Banana Slugs hit nearly .400 as they swept the Eagles 3-0.

In their last match, the Banana Slugs swept UC Merced last Friday in Santa Cruz while West Coast Baptist were swept by UC Merced yesterday in Lancaster. 

In the first set, the Banana Slugs led from the beginning and had thirteen kills in the set as the Banana Slugs won the set 25-15 and took a 1-0 match lead. In the second set, the Banana Slugs would have twelve kills in only twenty two attempts as the Banana Slugs won the set 25-17 and took a 2-0 lead in the match. In the third set, the Banana Slugs committed only two errors as they cruised to a 25-10 third set win and won the match 3-0.

Maya Lloyd had nine kills for the Banana Slugs. Sophie Seiberth had eighteen assists for UC Santa Cruz Alison Ota led the Banana Slugs with five digs.

For the match, UC Santa Cruz had a .394 hitting percentage with the best percentage coming in the second set at .409.

 

The Banana Slugs will have only a couple hours to get ready for their next match as they will take on Occidental College at 1 pm.
