On the strength of their impressive performances at the Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational in Salem on Saturday, both the men's and women's Banana Slug Cross Country teams are currently ranked among the top 10 in the West Region. The women started the season ranked #10 and fell from the rankings after the Argo Invitational, but bounced back to #6 following the UC Riverside Invitational. The men had been unranked the entire season until this week's rankings were released.
Head Coach Jamey Harris was pleased with the news, "Getting ranked is a nice confirmation that we are catching someone's attention and that the work we've been doing is paying off."
Both teams will be back in action at the Bronco Invitational in Sunnyvale, Saturday October 15th before hosting the Banana Slug Invitational on the 29th. Regional Rankings are released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association each Tuesday. The full rankings can be viewed on the USTFCCCA website through the link below.
