Banana Slug cross country teams compete well at Doc Adams Invitational

DAVIS (11-3) – UC Santa Cruz traveled to Davis to take part in the Doc Adams Invitational hosted by NCAA Division I member UC Davis. The Banana Slugs' competition included two NCAA Division schools and one NCAA Division II school.

In the men's race, Kevin Chacko finished 26th with a time of 27:16.6. Walter Teitelbaum ran the course in 27:19.7 and finished 27th. Leo Merle finished 35th with a time of 28:00.1. Harmen Kang had a time of 28:27.5 which placed him in 37th. Sagan Svoboda rounded out the Banana Slugs' contingent with a 38th place finish and a 29:03.1 time.

In the women's race, Allie Lourim had the best finish of the day for the Banana Slugs as she finished 23rd with a time of 24:56.5. Abby Klein finished 28th with a time of 25:55.8. Sanjana Raman ran the 6K course with a time of 26:05.2 which was good enough for 31st. Abby Twoy finished 32nd with a time of 26:10.9. Casey Chien finished with a 26:29.2 time and a 33rd place finish. Erin Carvalho finished 34th with a time of 26:42.0. Nadia Perez finished in 27:18.8 for a 36th place finish. Taylor Barkdoll rounded the Banana Slugs' day with a 38th place finish after running the course in 27:29.4.

In the men's team competition, Chico State University won the race while the Banana Slugs finished fourth. Matthew Herrera of Chico State won the men's individual competition. Chico State also won the women's team competition while the Banana Slugs finished third. Julia Lemak of UC Davis won women's individual competition.

The next race for Banana Slugs will be Saturday as they will travel to Walla Walla, Washington to take part in the NCAA Division III West Regional.
