Slugs Enjoy Senior Night Route

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- On Saturday night the UCSC Men’s Team honored 5 graduating seniors (Eric Norton, Teddy Monson, Niel Brennan, Miguel Smith and Ehson Mortezaie)

playing their final home game in the West Field House. In front of a packed gymnasium the 5 seniors started and led the Slugs to a blowout win over UC Merced. Brennan got things going for the Slugs scoring 12 first half points while leading UCSC to a 48-15 halftime advantage. The Slugs held Merced to 6 first half field goals and finished the half on a 35-10 run that put the game out of reach at the intermission.

The West Field House crowd enjoyed the second half as every Slug got into the action, but tonight was about the Seniors. Brennan led the Slug attack with 16 points and 8 rebounds, Eric Norton added 10 pts and 4 rbs, Teddy Monson chipped in 13 points while Ehson Mortezaie and Miguel Smith combined for 9pts, 6rbs, 11 assists and 8 steals in their final game in front of their home fans. This class had been making its mark on the UCSC record books for the past 4 years. Mortezaie will end his carrier having played in more games then any Slug in the history of the program, appearing in all 103 games he suited up for while Brennan will finish as the single season and carrier shot block leader at UCSC.

Congratulations to all 5 seniors, thank you for your time and effort dedicated to UC Santa Cruz and the Men’s Basketball Program, you will be missed!
