Slugs Land Solid Local Recruit

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- After a tough battle with D-1 Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, UCSC Slugs Men’s Basketball Team secured point guard Spencer Wells of Los Altos High School.

Spencer is a quick and strong pure point guard with the ability to score, as he averaged 18 ppg, along with 7apg. Spencer ended his career with 1280 points, 45th on the all time CCS scoring list and the all time scoring leader at Los Altos.

The Slugs are excited to get Spencer who is going to fit in well with their up-tempo style of play. Head Coach Gordon Johnson stated, “We needed another guard that could push the ball and get others involved in the offense and that’s something Spencer does well.

He’s also a tough in your face defender, which was something that we lacked last year. I’m really excited about having Spencer with us for the next four years.”

Last season the Slugs played a very tough schedule and finished 12-14. Adding Spencer is definitely going to help the Slugs improve upon that record.
