UCSC dispatches San Jose Christian on Seniors’ Night

UCSC defeated San Jose Christian, 94-81 Saturday night at the West Field. On this, the Slugs' Seniors' night, all four departing seniors made major contributions. Starting forwards Michael Halligan and Josh Killian both had 17 points with 7 and 6 rebounds, respectively. Graham Betchart had 5 assists with 8 points, two steals and tight defense all night. Starting center Jake Stuebbe added 9 rebounds and 6 points. All four were honored in a pre-game ceremony for both the character they've brought to the program as well as their contributions on the basketball court. They were joined by fellow senior Paul Foster, whose senior season was cut short by injury.

Ironically, on the night they honored their seniors UCSC was led in scoring by two freshmen. Center Paul Williams had 24 points and 9 rebounds coming off the bench, and starting guard Matt Glynn had 18 points, shooting 6-for-6 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.

San Jose Christian was led by Bernis Hoskin with 22 points, 17 rebounds and 2 blocks.

The Slugs will finish their season on Monday at the West Field House in a makeup game against Patten College. The game is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
