2006-07 Season Review

The 2006/07 season did not turn out as projected as the Men Slugs finished the season 4-23.  Much of the disappointment came as a result of several key players not being able to play the season due to personal issues and injuries. (more)

Second Half Surge Propels Pirate Men Past UCSC

Stung by a closer than expected first half, undefeated Whitworth outscored UC Santa Cruz 27-2 over the first 12 minutes of the second half on the way to an 89-44 win for the visiting Pirates in a non-conference men's basketball game on Tuesday night. (more)

Rough Weekend for the Slugs at CSU Eastbay Tourney

Coming off a well needed week of rest, the Slugs traveled to CSU Eastbay to take on the CSU Eastbay Pioneers (73-57) and the CSU Maritime Keelhaulers (98-65) and played as if they were still on vacation. (more)

Slugs Split Two in LA

The Slugs split two games on their recent road trip to the Los Angeles area as they knocked off the Cal Tech, Beavers 61-49 and then took a pounding by the California Lutheran Kingsmen 82-47. (more)

Men's Basketball Split Weekend

Coming off a dead week due to Finals, the Slugs traveled on Friday to Golden State Baptist College (Bears) and walked away with their third win of the season 57-52.

This has always been a tough game for the Slugs because of the layoff with no practice and the fact that Golden State is a very scrappy team that just gets after you. (more)

Slugs Travel to Redlands and Win Consolation Bracket

The Slug men hoopers traveled to the University of Redlands to play in the 59^th Annual Lee Fulmer Tournament and finished 2-1 to claim the Consolation bracket by defeating Colorado College 59-54. (more)

Hawks Overpower Young Slugs

Playing their first home game of the year, the young Slugs came out swinging against the much bigger and stronger 5-0 San Diego Christian College Hawks.  The Slugs still playing undermanned, played the Hawks close through the first half, ending the half trailing by 8 (45-37). (more)
