HIGH SCHOOL: Nicholas Lettered in both basketball (3 times) and volleyball (2 times) at Palo Verde High School. The team were two time Northwest League Champions in basketball and finished the senior season at 21-4. A defensive specialist, Nick blocked 3 shots and pulled down 13 rebounds against Cheyenne. Coached by Jermone Riley. Was a member of the 2009 State Championship Volleyball Team.

2010-2011: Played in 20 games and started 5 as a freshman. Second on the team for blocked shots with 11. Outstanding touch outside for a big man. Pulled down 6 boards in his first start at Pacific Lutheran. Scored 10 in the win over Simpson University.

PERSONAL: The son of Kris and Fred Hipwell. Has a younger brother, Vince.
