Sixth Win for the Slugs

CAREER NIGHT: Lauren Cardinalli recorded her first double-double
SANTA CRUZ, CA -- Last night in the West Field House everything went the Slugs way as they picked up their 6th win of the season with a 90-34 victory over visiting Life Pacific College. Five Slugs scored in double-digits in a team effort that had the Slugs finish the night with a season high 23 assists. The Slugs also pulled down a season high 61 rebounds while shooting 46% from the field, 48% from the 3pt. line, and 100% from the charity stripe.

Jenna Chabot had another 20 point night as she led the way for the Slugs with 20 points and 8 rebounds, Chabot hit 4 3-pointers in the first half to lead the Slugs with 12 points at the half. A strong night from beyond the arc, Kayleigh Calandri and Rachel Ocampo each added 3 3-pointers of their own, as the Slugs finished with 30 points from 3-point land. Calandri finished the night with 17 points, while Ocampo finished with 11.

Inside the paint, Junior Megan Gaynor added 10 points, going 5 for 9 from the field while adding 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals, in a great all-around night.

Rounding out the top 5 scorers was Senior Lauren Cardinalli, who had the best night of her career as she finished with her first double-double; 14 points and 12 rebounds. Cardinalli went 6-11 from the field and 2-2 from behind the line, while pulling down 6 offensive rebounds.

Tina Beams and Perbey Pandac helped the Slugs outrebound the Warriors by 35 with their 8 rebounds on the night. Pandac and Beams both finished with 8 points, 5 offensive rebounds, and 3 assists.

For the second game of the season, Senior point guard Libby Lane led the Slugs with 4 assists on the night. Freshman Caitlin Miller added 2 points and 4 rebounds in the Slugs' sixth victory.

The Slugs will travel to Vallejo on Thursday to face Cal State Maritime at 5:30pm.

You can catch the Slugs at their last home game next saturday, February 4th vs. Chapman University. Tip-off is set for 5pm, and there will be a pre-game ceremony for Slug Seniors; Jenna Chabot, Tina Beams, Libby Lane, and Lauren Cardinalli.
