Slugs Pick Up Another Win on the Road

Tina Beams led the Slugs on defense with 7 steals
VALLEJO, CA -- Tonight the Slugs won their 7th game of the season with a 68-49 victory over the Cal State Maritime Keelhaulers. Despite another 20+ turnover night on offense, the Slugs were unstoppable when they got a shot off. In the first half, UCSC shot a blistering 65% from the field, 50% from the 3pt. line and 100% from behind the line, allowing them to take a 25 point lead into the locker room.

Kayleigh Calandri led the Slugs with 18 points, 13 of which came in the first half when she went 5 for 5 from the field (3-3 from beyond the arc). Calandri ended the game shooting 70% from the field.

Three more Slugs ended the night in double figures; Megan Gaynor finished with 16 points, Tina Beams came off the bench to add 12 (shooting 5 for 9), and Jenna Chabot had 10.

Senior Tina Beams had one of her best games of the season, to add to her 12 points on offense, Beams had 7 of the Slugs' 13 steals on the night. She also pulled down 5 rebounds and added 2 assists in 24 minutes of play.

Gaynor and Chabot led the Slugs with 9 rebounds a piece.

The Slugs have a day off before they host Chapman University for thier last game of the season on February 4th. Tip-off set for 5pm.
