Chabot Receives Association of Division III Independents Women's Basketball Player of the Week Award

Number 33, Jenna Chabot
SUPER SLUG: Jenna Chabot Player of the Week.
KANSAS CITY, MO -- University of California-Santa Cruz senior guard/forward Jenna Chabot (Sonora, Calif.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents women's basketball Player of the Week.

In three games this week, Chabot averaged 18.7 points and six rebounds per game. She also hit 12 of 23 three pointers, good for a 52% mark. In a loss to Dominican University (55-60), Chabot had a career-high 21 points, 16 of which came in the second half, and she tied a school record for most threes made in a game with five. Three nights later, she helped the Banana Slugs defeat Pomona Pitzer, 85-76, and broke the school record for most three pointers made in a game as she went 6-9 from beyond the arc, en route to another 21-point night. In a 63-49 loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Chabot led UCSC with 12 points and hit her 12th three pointer of the week. Chabot, who is coached by Nikki Turner, leads the 1-3 Slugs with 15.8 points per game.

Congratulations to Jenna Chabot of the Women's Basketball Team as she was named the first women's basketball player of the week by the Association of DIII Independents for the 2005-06 season. She is the 3rd Slug to receive the Player of the Week award this year, the 9th Slug in the past 2 years, and just the 2nd Basketball Player (men's or women's) to receive the award.
