Todd Kent Hired as the New Slug Women's Basketball Coach
SANTA CRUZ, CA--
The 2009-2010 Women's Basketball season will have a new face come this fall. After five seasons at UCSC, Head Coach Nikki Turner has accepted the Head Assistant Coach position at DII Cal State University East Bay, effective July 1st. Turner will continue at UCSC through June to wrap up her administrative duties as the Assistant Athletic Director and Sports Information Director and to assist with the transition of a new head coach. Calandri and Davisson Receive Player of the Year and All-Independent Honors
KANSAS CITY, MO -- Kayleigh Calandri, a senior guard from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and Erica Davis, a senior forward from the University of Maine, Presque Isle, were named the co-players of the year as the All-Independent Women’s Basketball teams were announced today by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I). Davisson and Andrews Have Record Breaking Nights
in the Slugs Two Game Win Streak
SANTA CRUZ, CA--
The Slugs are starting their second half of season in record breaking
fashion. After a tough loss to Menlo College, the Slugs bounced back as
they defeated Holy Names University 64-59. The Hawks entered the game
with a 12-6 (6-0 Cal Pac) record and a lot of athleticism. With their
tenacious defense and solid shooting, the Slugs were able to hold of Hawks
for their first win of the New Year.

2008-2009 Season Preview: Slug Women Ready to Get
the Season Started
SANTA CRUZ, CA -- The Slugs can hardly wait
to get the 2008-2009 season rolling, last season proved to be a tough
one as all the odds were stacked against a young slug team with eight
new players. The Slugs were forced to play their entire season on the
road and in unfamiliar practice facilities as the west field house was
undergoing required maintenance and renovation. Now, with a team of solid
returners, talented new faces and a 'new' gym the slugs are ready to put
the 2007-08 season behind them. (more)
