Whitworth Shootout Mixed Results for Slugs Women's Basketball Team

SPOKANE, WA--The Slugs Women’s Basketball Team got their first win against the heavily favored tournament host team, the Whitworth Pirates. After a slow start, getting off to a 15 point deficit in the early going, the Slugs started raining ‘3’s.’ They ended the game shooting 48 percent (11 for 23) from behind the arc. Dani Mofsowitz led the way shooting 60 percent (6 for 10). After a wild second half, the Slugs came out on top 69 to 68. Coach Kent praised the total team effort and better execution in the comeback victory.

The Whitman Missionaries, a top ranked D III team, were next up in Spokane. The slow start woes continued to haunt the Slugs and even with outscoring Whitman in the second half, the  result was not pretty with the Slugs on the short end of the 69 - 50 final. The three point shooting efficiency deserted the Slugs and overall execution was not good enough for a win.

Dani Mofsowitz was selected 1st team all tournament

Next up: Slugs vs. Bethany; Tuesday, 11/23/10 @6pm West Field House
