Women's Golf Finishes 14th at Nationals

The Slugs improved each day to finish 14th place in the Division III National Golf Championship.  The slugs shot 373-360-353-338=1424 over the four day tournament.  Senior Stephanie Bishop led the way with four solid rounds of 85-87-85-80=337 to finish 38th place in the 111 player field.  Freshman Halley Sutton finished strong with an 80 on the last day, to help the team edge out Ohio Northern University by two strokes.  It was truly a team effort with everyone contributing key rounds to make up ground from the first day.  Halley Sutton finished 99-92-90-80=361 (71st), Meghan Bishop (senior) shot 92-94-88-90=364 (79th), Jessie Lewis (sophomore) came in with a 98-92-90-88=368 (87th), and Megan Gochoco (freshman) finished 98-89-95-90=372 (92nd).  Stephanie Bishop was named to the All-Regional team in the West, and Meghan and Stephanie were both chosen to the All-American Scholar Team.  The team represented UCSC well for their first time at Nationals and hopes to get some new recruits in for next year to have a chance at returning to Nationals in 2008.
