UCSC Women's Golf Came Up Two Shots Short of Victory

This week the Women's Golf team hosted the UCSC Women's Fall Invitational at Delaveaga. The Slugs were six shots behind Monterey Bay after the first day. They had a ruling go against them which really affected the final team score for the day.

The second day the Slugs fought back, but it still wasn't enough. Alough Jessie Lewis carded a 83, it still wasn't enough to pull the Slugs ahead as they lost the tournament by two shots. Two other team members, Stephanie Bishop and Jessie Lewis, tied for first place individual honors. There had to be a sudden death playoff on the first hole where Jessie won the hole with a par and ended up with the first place trophy. This was only fitting since it was also Jessie's birthday!

The Women's Golf season will be over until the spring, where they plan on playing in at least three more tournaments. March 12th and 13th they will host at Pasatiempo. March 19th ,20th, and 21st they will be playing in the Cal State Monterey Bay tournament at Fort Ord. They are currently also on the waiting list to play in the Oglethorpe Tournament over the break on Friday March 23rd,24,and 25th where there will be a very strong field, one that will perhaps look similiar the NCAA Finals.
