Assistant Coach Brad Bartanen begins his first season with UCSC Women's Golf team. United States Air Force Academy and Standford University educated as mechanical design engineer, Brad worked in the aerospace industry on such projects as the Hubble Space Telescope and the Space Shuttle, he spent 10 years in New York City (auditioning and) teaching dance and exercise to clients including Christopher Plummer. He developed dance equipment used by such companies as The New York City Ballet. On returning to California, he worked at Stanford as a book editor on Track & Field world records for the acclaimeed Celine expert, Alphonse Juilland. As assistant manager of the Stanford weight room, he worked with many world class athletes, including Olympic medalists Dave Schultz and Adam Nelson. (During this time, he wrote two biographical books.
