Dan Chamberlain is entering his third year as the Head Coach for the UC Santa Cruz Men's Soccer Program. In his first two years, Chamberlain has compiled an impressive 36-7 record and led the Slugs to two consecutive NCAA playoff appearances.

During his first year (2006) Chamberlain led the Slugs to a 21-2 record, a birth in to the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament, a top 10 ranking in the NSCAA National Poll and a nation leading Goals Against Average and Shutout Percentage.  In a magical run through the NCAA tournament that year, the Slugs beat the top ranked team in the nation, Trinity University on their home field in the second round of the tournament, handing the Tigers their first loss on their home field in 5 years.

In 2007, Chamberlain led the Slugs to a 15-5 mark, and their fifth consecutive birth into the NCAA tournament.  With wins over some of the top teams in the Western Region, including Gustavus Aldolphus, Cal Lutheran and Pacific Lutheran the Slugs were poised for another deep run into the NCAA tournament.  However, the Slugs were stopped short with a first round loss at the University of Redlands.

Under Chamberlain, the Slugs have placed 6 players on to the NSCAA All-Region Team,  2 players on the NSCAA Scholar All-Region Team, 1 player on the Scholar All-American team, 3 players on the D3Kicks.com All-American Teams, 6 players on the D3Kicks.com All-Region teams and 14 players onto the Association of Division III Independent All-Independent Teams, including both the Offensive and Defensive players of the year for 2006.  In addition, the Slugs were awarded the NSCAA Team Academic Award for a team GPA of above a 3.2.

Before taking the Head Coaching position, Chamberlain served as an assistant coach for the Slugs in 2004 and 2005; helping lead the Slugs to their 2004 Final Four appearance.  Prior to coaching, Chamberlain was a four year starting goalkeeper for the Slugs, where he helped lead the 2003 Slugs to their first ever Western Regional Championship, and still holds the record for Career Shutouts.  Chamberlain graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 2003 with a degree in Earth Sciences and Education.

In addition to coaching at UC Santa Cruz, Chamberlain is also very active in the Santa Cruz soccer community.  He is highly involved with the development of the youth soccer players of Santa Cruz County, as a Coach and Goalkeeping Director for the Santa Cruz County Breakers, and the Catalyst Soccer Player Development Program.
