February 9, 2006 It didn’t take new Athletic Director Linda Spradley long to make her first move. Spradley, who formally took over as UC Santa Cruz’s AD Feb. 1, announced the very next day that assistant men’s soccer coach Dan Chamberlain will take over the men’s soccer team as interim coach beginning immediately, and will act as head coach for the 2006-2007 season. “This is a big opportunity for (Chamberlain),” Spradley said. “He’s earned the right to have a shot at this.” Chamberlain knows the pressure will be great to maintain the recent run of success the soccer team has enjoyed, but is ready to take on the challenge. “I’m really excited to be able to be a head coach at my Alma Mater,” Chamberlain said. “And for this to be my first head coaching job is great.” ... see Full Story in the City on a Hill Press |
