Slugs Blank East Bay for Holocher's 100th

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- The Slugs 4-0 victory over rival CSU East Bay this afternoon was the 100th victory in 7 years for Head Coach Paul Holocher. This was a great win for Holocher and the Slugs as these two teams have been rivals for years, and last year East Bay was the only team to beat the Slugs in the regular season.

Senior Bryan Baird would get the first goal of the game in the 2nd minute, Baird controlled a long ball from Eric Tozer inside the box, froze the Pioneer defense and netted a perfect shot past the keeper.

Senior Eric Tozer and Freshman Jeff Meyer would connect twice to score UCSC's 2nd and 3rd goal in the first half. Meyer scored the first in the 4th minute off Tozer's indirect kick, and the second in the 26th minute off Tozer's cross from the right side.

With a minute left in the first half, David Cochrane would score the Slugs' 4th and final goal of the game off a cross from Anthony Scarlett.

Baird and Meyer lead the team with 8 goals a piece.

CSU East Bay will have their chance at a rematch as the Slugs travel to Hayward on Wednesday, kick-off will be at 4pm.
