Sluggish they’re not: UCSC men’s soccer scoring in bundles

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- UCSC (9-0-1 and No. 5 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll) has scored 46 goals, and allowed two. Bryan Baird leads the team with 10 goals, but contributions are coming from all over the field.

The team's other starting forward, Jeff Meyer has eight goals. Fellow freshman Julian Alvarez, a midfielder from Santa Cruz High, has six. Even the back line is getting into the scoring fun. Defenders Eric Tozer and Stephen Wondolowki have a combined six goals.

"Paul instills in us the ability to attack," Wondolowski said. "We're different than other teams. Our backs can handle the ball, our outside midfielders can handle the ball. Everyone is involved and utilized...."
