Slugs Go 2-0 In Colorado

The UC Santa Cruz Men's Soccer Team picked up two important victories in Colorado this past weekend, with victories over Ithica of New York, and Colorado College.  The Slugs started with a 1-0 victory over Ithica who was ranked 8th in the Nation.  Senior and Team Captain Steve Wondolowski lead the Slugs with a scrappy goal off a corner kick in the 60th min.  That goal proved to be all the Slugs needed as the dominated the play out shooting their opponents 18-6.

Next up was regional rival Colorado College.  Wondolowski proved to be the game winner again as he headed home from a Justin Brock cross in the 18th min.  The Slugs doubled their lead through Matt Skenazy 12 min later in the 30th, with a screaming shot from 25 yards out.  Junior Goalkeeper Jared Wheeler closed the game out for his 7th shutout of the year with 5 key saves.

After being on the road for two weeks strait the Slugs now have a long home stand starting Sept 28th with Dominican at the Lower East Field.
