Season Preview 2006 The UC Santa Cruz Men's Soccer Program will be kicking off it's 2006 Fall Season in style under new Head Coach Dan Chamberlain with a pre-season trip to Brazil. The Slugs will spend 13 days in Rio de Janerio, where they will train and play against some of the best players in the world in preparation for their Fall 06 campaign. The 2006 Slugs will be lead by a very talented core of returning players including Team Captains Steve Wondolowski and David Frank. Leading the Slugs attack will be Seniors Adam Smarte, Anthony Scarlett and Grant Lyon, while Senior Justin Brock, and Juniors Alex Tocco and Stefan Clemens will look to lead the Slugs defense. The Slugs will be joined by a host of talented incoming players including Drew Delis, Davin Kono, John Thorburn, Matt Mahowald and Cameron Hector.
This year the Slugs will play against NCAA Div III Regional contenders including Redlands, Chapman, Claremont, Gustavus Aldolphus, and Colorado College in their quest to reach the NCAA Playoffs for the sixth time in seven years. Coach Chamberlain believes that this young team, lead by a core group of seniors is hungry to prove themselves, and determined to turn out another successful season in 2006.
